by Peter Campbell on 30 Dec 2000
Hobart hopeful Doctor Who finished the 2000 Telstra Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race at
9.27.31am today, the first Tasmanian competitor to complete the challenging 630
nautical mile ocean epic.
Owned and skippered by veteran Hobart yachtsman Roger Jackman, the Davidson
52-footer's crew has more than 120 Sydney to Hobart races between them and an
impressive scoreboard of results that includes an IMS overall win in the 1990 Sydney to
Hobart.
The Jackman family were well represented in the crew lineup for this year's race, with
Roger's son Rod backing up for his 25th race south and son Chris Jackman completed
his 6th.
Melbourne yacht Terra Firma (Peter Bartels) was due to finish around 11.30am today.
