Beneteau Regatta Metal Mesh Pittwater

by Shane Crookshanks on 15 Mar 2001
The time has come to organise a Beneteau Regatta in Pittwater.

By popular demand and due to the success of Beneteau Regatta on Sydney
Harbour, Vicsail Pittwater are proud to announce a Beneteau Regatta on
Pittwater. The event will be held on Saturday 5th of May 2001. The races for
the Metal Mesh Cup (called after the major sponsor) will be held on the
waters of Majestic Pittwater with the function being held at the Royal
Prince Alfred Yacht Club.

The Peugeot Regatta and Beneteau Cup have proven to be a real success on
Sydney Harbour with fifty three Beneteau Yachts entering the 2000 Peugeot
Regatta at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.

There is no doubt that such an event on Pittwater will carry the same
interest for the Beneteau owners. A friendly rivalry has formed and the
Sydney harbour owners are keen to bring their boats along to race against
the contingent from Pittwater.

We expect to gather a great number of First 40.7 in order to organise for
them an individual start, this regatta will include the final two races in
the series for the First 40.7 Owners Trophy.

The format will be simple with two races for the First 40.7 and a longer
race for the spinnaker and non spinnaker boats. The sailing Office of the
RPAYC will be conducting the races and handicapping. There will be a carvery
in the Halyards area together with the presentation.
