I know you hate daggerboards, but the lack of a flushing strip can be a blessing!

Graeme, i got to do the same thing buddy. Slot gaskets are a complete nightmare, surely its not beyond the intellect of modern man to design one that doesn't constantly need replacing.

the only advice i can give is worry more about getting the hull clean, rather than what glue to use. and stay very calm and give yourself twice as much time as you think it should take! |

Well I can report it stuck really well, so I'll use it in future, I used the Wicks clear stuff, they don't call it No Nails, but it is advertised as superstrenght Wet grab, I can't remember exactly, but it's a lot better than having to use thixofix which is just 1980's contact adhesive and you need to coat both sides, the hull and the strip.
This clear stuff I put on just the hull where I needed it to be then pressed the strip on and taped it after with gaffer tape, the gaffer tape I foolishly left on for the race and by the time we came ashore it was hanging down round the foil which must have slowed us a great deal (we still won though)but the strips are on there solid, it's good stuff, it also washes off your hands with fairy liquid. So I can recommend it for use with Hawke Gasket, and Roger who I'd previously suggested he gave it a try, used it on his sailcloth style stuff that goes on the 470.
