Hi "Robin"

Yeah, that sort of setup might actually work well with my new boat (it has a bridle at the back already). I wonder how it'll go with all those blocks in the system though - could add a decent amount of friction.

Is it possible to get a system like that to work with a swivelling cleat (on the floor) - scratching my head now trying to figure out how it would exit from below and then work its way through a normal deck-mounted swivel cleat.

That sounds like one of those cleats sold for kickers, sometimes used on Fireballs?
The swivel has a hollow pivot, through which the rope runs.
If you can taper the rope so most of the blocks are running on very thin stuff, the friction may be OK?

I'll second "sit on it", for sheer simplicity.

forget the cleat, hand it to the crew (once you've got tired of swapping hands), done this a few times with transom sheeted Ents at 12-24hr races like the ones you used to get at Burghfield and at West Lancs
