ive bought a 1992 axeman and in needs a few things doing before it will sail.  The kevlar has blistered and has been completely removed in some places and  i have removed most of it from the hull. Once the boat is back to bare wood, what would be the best to coat it with to keep the weight down and make it strong. I thoght about re doing it in kevlar, but this would be quite expensive and couldnt really be justified on a £250 boat. Also i think glass would make it quite heavy. Any ideas??

i wouldn't use kevlar as it is a pig to work with. Very difficult to cut to
start with, best to get special sheers and it is also a git to wet out. Plus if
you over cook your fairing down it goes fluffy. Which isn't fast!

You mentioned Kevlar and glass but you left out Carbon.

Use carbon it's worth it. Axeman 2's are good boats and worth keeping
going. You could even get it flying when you get the hang of it.

If you want any tips on laminating most people say ( even the Mothies )
that our site ( UK Cherub ) is about the best around, so click:

and have a look at the techical section, you can even join the email list
you'll get even better answers to your laminating questions there.
