Doesn't work for me - putting may in it only brings up a few events which didn't include the ones I posted.

Yep you're right. Sheppey race is in there but it doesn't come up if I search for "september".

Would it be possible for a search by date function to be added?

I didn't realise anyone would want to ask, "What is happening for any class of boat across the entire country in June?" - it wasn't what I expected! Plus, if I did list that, it would be a crowded mess, believe me.

I would have thought most people would want to know what events were happening for the classes they sailed. Hence the main search function being offered to enter a class name. You can also enter a club name, or a specific event name.

Whilst you can see all the open handicap/pursuit races that admit a broad range of dinghies here...
www.yachtsandyachting.com/community/calendar/list.asp
...we have made a real effort to carefully link each event to specific classes, so you can more easily find handicaps your own boat is eligible for. These will appear in a search for your class, such as when I look at the races I can do in my Merlin:
www.yachtsandyachting.com/community/calendar/list.asp?class=46&name=Merlin%20Rocket

Yacht racing is usually labelled as IRC if it's not for a particular class and is listed here:
www.yachtsandyachting.com/community/calendar/list.asp?class=138&name=IRC

Most clubs and classes have only finalised (or released) their fixtures list these past few weeks, so I expect the volume of data in the website calendar to grow substantially during this month. We're very grateful to the clubs and classes who take the time to send in their fixtures lists, and they in turn appreciate the extra publicity.

The what's happening overall could be useful in event planning to avoid too many clashes, or just to see what to go and watch or what to avoid! You could split dinghies and yachts though.

If planning, wouldn't you'd be looking at specific classes (or using the link above to list all handicap/pursuit opens)? Or if watching, wouldn't you be only interested in what is within a 50 mile (say) radius?

Just got an email from Mags outlining the new features of the calendar, it looks very useful, particularly the pre-registration options Smile Our club is currently putting details together for a large long distance handicap, open to anything with a sail. The pre-reg will be a big help.

PBSC are currently revamping their website ,so lots of possibilities for our web design guy, it'll also possibly save him some work. (so a thanks from him)

Good Job Y&Y
