Hi All
I have to change the main line on my Phantom kicker and wanted opinions on knotting Dyneema.
Trying to splice a new line will be tricky (getting the lenght exactly right will be hard and is critical).
I know that old kevlar rope can fail with time where knotted but I've seen various websites showing Laser rigging hints showing Dyneema being knotted.
Any thoughts would be great.

If you're using 12 strand splicing is the only way to fly. You lose a lot of strength in knots. I've always wondered why all those rigging guides for Lasers show you 12 strand dyneema and vectran being knotted.

The ease of splicing the twelve strands does give opporchancities to adjust the splices to get the length right too.

A temporary solution I used was a 'devise your own knot'. Attaching kicker line to a becket, its a bowline but with a double loop. ie the rabbit goes through the hole twice before going round the whatsit.
Still working fine after five years!
