If you run for half an hour every other day between now and then, I am certain you will not only be fitter but you will also be lighter too. Anyone who is saying "you can't do anything in 3 weeks", is quite frankly... WRONG.

Back in my 30's, when I was doing 160-180km one-day bike tours, I found three weeks to be the exact minimum to go from cycling-unfit to fit enough that it was only my bum that limited endurance.

I say cycling-unfit, but as a starting point I'd always walked to work and back (30 mins) which gave me a surprising amount of basic fitness.

During my build-up, I averaged the recommended three, fairly hard 1-2 hour sessions per week. Did the trick.

Plus, if you do that you will be both fitter than you were previously, and better prepared than at least half of the fleet who will have just turned up having done no training at all.
