The Forth Yacht Clubs Association have been brave enough to attempt to
define a 'Sportsboat'. This has been in response to various Forth keelboat owners complaints about being forced to sail in 'Sportsboat' classes at regattas; up until now it has been an arbitary decision by the RO. the rating office know their stuff, i'd go wth the guidlines they've set out. on a side note the 762 data confirms what ive been thinking, that it needs more downwind power, reckon a 65m2 assy would do it on a mast head and it would be bumped into the sbr classification, where it would perform better. |

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with it - because it's such a
contentious subject I was curious to know what other people thought. I wouldn't attempt a masthead assy on the current 762 mast - the dilithium crystals willna tak it, captain! J80 mast is much beefier than ours. |

chic, i know what you mean especially as the 762 sits somewhere in no mans land! i always liked the idea of a 1720 mast, but the rating on it would hurt plus the agro of making it fit, a maxfun 25 rig would be easier and better rated.
