Does it all have to be used up once the tins are opened or
can it be reused again later as long as the 2 parts are
still separate?

Me and my mate are re-varnishing our masts but we want to
do them at different times.

I've got tins of two pot I've used over years. Seal the tins up very carefully though, the hardener evaporates enthusiastically through the tiniest of cracks.

Turn the can upside down after you closed it. It won't evaporate then.

I think I'd rather it evaporated than left a gooey puddle in the garage...

It is supposed to work for gloss, but the consequences of a leak are a little less messy than one part of 2 pack leaking! Not sure I'd be brave enough.

Many years ago I was told that you turned the tin upside down for a few secs to seal any tiny air gaps around the lid (assuming a small amount of the contents worked its way in to the gap and congealed, rather than just running back out) and then turned it back the right-way-up.
