Does anyone know a good way of attaching the elastic 'inhaul' to the Laser outhaul/clew without pulling it on just one side (and hence affecting the sail in light winds). Rooster provided me with the shock cord and a hook but their instructions/tips are not very clear. I'm usinga strap with one eye and currently tie the ealstic onto the eye - its OK but there must be something better ? Any advice would be great.

Hi rich, I have never found this to be an issue. What I do with the elastic is take it round the boom once. This seems to cure th sail catching on all but the corners. I am pretty quick in the light stuff so the small part that does get caught is not of huge consequence. Cheers, Paul |

I think i had a double length. This was dead ended on the boom cleat, went through the eye in the clew then back to the cleat with a big stopper knot holding it in place through the cleat. This kept pressure even on both sides of the sail. You could always tie elastic from the fairlead at the boom end to the block from which your control line that you pull. This would keep it taught but still require the wind to ajust the sail. . . . |

Thanks for the pointers. Jeffers - not sure what you mean about taking the elastic round the boom ? |

I think Jeffers may have been referring to the system some people use of threading the elastic thus: From the cleat take the elastic under the boom and up to the clew, through the clew, back under the boom and back up to the cleat. Keeps the pull central (if a bit down and into the boom) and stops the elastic interferring with the foot of the sail. |
