You can try filling out the technical enquiry form on the following link
however It's unlikely even people that know him would hand out his email
address over the internet.

Buying plans is going to be an unlikely possibility but would it be possible to
make a mould from a current rudder??

laser193713, I think its clear what Dave wants.

"I want to build mark 2 rudder for a hunter Impla thus I need to contact him to buy the plans"

I know that Hunter boats are pretty helpful on sorting out issues with their older boats. My father used to have a lifting keel Sonata, and he lost the plate when the pin failed. A quick call to Hunter and they sent out the last one they had left on the shelf. It was a bit too thick for the case so required a quick scim with a cutter to fit, but had it not fitted they were willing to supply plans so that we could get a new one made.
So if Dave Thomas himself cant get you the plans, then try contacting Hunter direct, or the Impala class association, I'm sure someone has a mould knocking about.

I can get him the plans! thats my point! I will be seeing him later and will mention it but emailing him won't get you anywhere coz hes suffering with a bad foot at the moment so hes not working much, getting designs for a rudder printed off is no problem though, just hes unlikely to reply to an email about it.

The problem with going to hunter themselves is that since Select Yachts went out of business the company and its boats have been split all over the place to different companies so probably best to go straight to the designer, i will see what he can do for you when I see him tonight.  I dont know if he will have the designs digitised because he has changed computers since designing the impala (luckily!) but something can be sorted.

That's a different "Hunter" from what was latterly called "British Hunter" to avoid that particular confusion, and which as someone else has pointed out, was in any case bought out by a company that has since gone bust. A sad end to an illustrious name in British small raceboat history.

Happy to be so. I'd never learn a thing otherwise.
