I have just bought, via ebay, an ancient I14 , probably built in 1965, possibly called Agamemnon.  Any knowledge/history gratefully received!

wow, thanks - some of that info was in the ad, but where did you get the POW result?

what I really need are pics/drawings of the layout for lines etc.

From the T J Vaughan book 'The International Fourteen 1928-1989' which has a boat register and results listings in the back. It has since been put on the class website

Thank you.  I have now collected the boat.  It is actually in pretty good condition - no structural damage of any kind. Mostly a question of re doing the varnish and re fitting.  Some fittings are good, some are old - wooden in fact! But the spars are ok - the mast is like a telegraph pole, and the sails will do for now.

I have just been up the garden to view the mast and realised that it is equipped with trapeze wires.  These must surely have been fitted later, as I didn't think trapezes were allowed till later on?

Quite right. If you want lots of infomation from sad people with their heads stuck in the past (sorry, wise people with much knowledge of times gone by) try posting at www.cvrda.org, the home of old boats!

I have done so, and they have been really quite helpful.  I'm thinking about going to the event at Thames SC tomorrow, but the forecast for them is not promising.  Might be good for getting pics on the shore though.

Trapezeseses were reintroduced in 1969 according to the class history, so that would be expected on a boat of that age..

Does anybody know anything about Scorpion 625?  One of the last ones with a stern tank and home built in the Medway towns.  Owned by me for a few years in the 70s and campiagned in the NW circuit for a few years.  Highly modified to reduce weight and increase stiffness and carrying a Proctor D mast.  Quite fast upwind but had too much rocker and weight to be fast downwind.  Sold to Mike Lennon (of Hyde) when he was a nipper and was sailing at Coniston.
