So. I've picked up a rather elderly 420 with a pretty nasty problem. There is a crack about 3-400mm long on the deck/hull joint where the mast stays mount. Sorry if this isn't the correct technical term. Its old, it isn't going racing anymore so there is little to worry about repairs being made within class specification but it is going to be used. I can get some pictures if there is some advice around. I have searched the various forums without much being said about these hulls, but I can't believe this is the only one like it. Anything is it fixable with enough care and attention - it would help if there was some advice pointing in the right direction to make the repair the most effective. Some pictures added. GRP hull and deck Any takers? Edited by splott |

We would need to know what the hull is made of, i presume its all grp, if so again pictures would be of help to identify the real problem, if its a crack between the deck and hull joint this is a fairly easy fix.

Ouch! Um it wouldnt be a cosmetic repair but i would gring off all the old gell coat around the cracks then repair with fibre glass and resin with the shroud attachments i would repair with same procedure as above but use a different fitting for the shroud take off points next time something like this one: |

Thanks It should be in the garage this weekend so I can get it dried out and then get gel coat off as suggested. I'll post some pictures as it progresses over the next couple of weeks |
