Hi all, Did a wonderful job of breaking my boat at the weekend and am now i need of advice. Had a pretty vicious (by solo standards) capsize to winward which left we floundering on rocks, and have craked the bouyancy tank/ deck on the inside of the boats, have put 2 holes in the outside of the hull, and the hull to deck joint has split/ seperated for about 5ft along one side of the boat. All this left me swamped and having to tow the boat back to the slipway. A long and tiring walk with a very heavy boat in tow. The crack in the deck/bouyancy tank side is near the thwart and above an inspection hatch. I would normally have a go at most boat work myself but it hink these need to be done proffesionaly, but the boat is very old and worth very little. Is repairing fibreglass as easy as coating fibregalss tape in epoxy and putting in the holes and any ares that need strengthning/ fixing? What does anybody think, have a go at fixing, make insurance claim and get professionaly done, or not worth bothering on old and nakered boat? Any advice much appreciated, Adam |

Is the boat solid glass fibre or cored, polyester or epoxy? The answer to "is it as simple as" is yes, but hat's not necessarilly all that simple.

Insurance Job - no doubt in my mind You will at least have some comeback if the repair fails

Thanks for replies, Have contacted insurance company, after looking again last night and deciding it was far too big a job to do myself. They seem fairly convinced that with the boats boats age and relatively small value that the boat may be a right off! Now in the market for a new boat i think! Adam
