Fairing Hulls

   Hi

Any advice on what to use for fairing in glass tape & smoothing imperfections in an old plywood hull. Is it a case of epoxy & fairlite or is there a more cost effective alternative. For instance has anyone used P38 car body filler or similar, and if so any problems.

	I reckon Epoxy or some other marine filler is your best bet. You don't really want to spend all that time filling and sanding for it to crack and fall out do you? Use the right stuff for the job and save doing it twice

	If its an old hull the tape will have been put on with polyester resin which is the goo in P38. I have used this to fair in tapes on many mirror hulls and have never known it crack or fall out. It is flexible, easy to sand and for good measure much cheaper than anything with "marine" in the name!
