laser underside gunwale

   Can any one advise me on gunwale repair.  On the underside of my gunwale there are small area's where it looks like the different coats are separating.  This is looking from underneath where all the coats come to an end/edge of gunwale.  Should I just turn the boat upside down and use some gelcoat filler (which I( already have) or something else.  Or is it not that important?

	you could always try opening them out a bit and put epoxy in, then clamp them closed until it's set. I have no idea if this would work but I would try it if it was me.

	Turn it over and run some polyester resin in. Don't use epoxy, it doesn't stick well to polyester and the problem will only return later and worse!

	Alex, Is this where the hull and deck mouldings join or actually in the recess where the gunwhale hung trolley sits? Either way I would recommend something a bit more than just gelcoat filler. Regards, Paul

	It is where the hull and deck mouldings join. It's just small areas but I figure i might as well deal with them while they are small.

	Halfords resin is fine but you can get it cheaper. Any supplier of fibreglass will be able to help.

	Please note you do NOT want filler, you want resin. You need to glue the mouldings back together and filler has no real adhesive properties.
