skipper 14

   Hello all: I need help. I have a skipper 14 (fibreglass) whose exterior was 

badly damaged during a violent storm this winter. I wish to repair it. How 

can I separate the two skins of the hull? Are they glued?

	Knowing some of the forum members, they will advise you to use an angle-grinder, chop it into small bits and dispose of it on the tip, before getting a proper boat Then again, someone might come up with a more sensible suggestion. Good luck anyway.

	Get it professionally repaired unless you have experience doing it. Can you tell us more about the nature of the damage? Also, Why do you want to split the hull / deck? They are glued in the factory, and are not really designed to be pulled apart after that.

	I'd be very reluctant to separate the two mouldings. You could get in a world of trouble!How to approach things depends a lot on exactly what the damage is, but I'd be thinking in terms of chopping out the worst damage, then grinding the edges back to a feathered edge, maybe a pre made flat panel from the inside and new layers of glass over the holes. It will be a long and filthy job, and you'll need to paint the boat when you've finished: by the sound of it and especially considering age you won't be able to replace gel coat. This sounds like a very big unpleasant, messy time consuming and moderately expensive job. You need to consider very hard whether its really the best option over getting another boat.
