Claxons

   Does anyone know where i can get a loud (around 130-140Db) claxon from?  I am going to be using it for starting races with large fleets like national championships.

	HGV horn/s from scrapyard + 12V (or 24V) car battery and Bob's your Uncle.

	RS (the other one), Maplin, etc. And if you really want it that loud you'd better budget for some ear protectors - I reckon 140dB will hurt! The following cribbed from the HSE website: normal conversation 50-60 dB(A) a loud radio 65-75 dB(A) a busy street 78-85 dB(A) a heavy lorry about 7 metres away 95-100 dB(A) a pighouse at feeding time 110 dB(A) a chain saw 115-120 dB(A) a jet aircraft taking off 25 metres away 140 dB(A). 	Could just do what they do at Texel and use a blank artillery shell, plenty loud enough and a smoke singnal as well!!

	Mitch (and a load of others) were way over the line at Texel, and were OCS as a result. He was later exonerated and given a time (and, coincidentally, sponsored by the main event sponsor) fishy indeed! None of them were hit by artillery shells etc, although there are fine stories of canon fire at North Berwick a few years ago!!

	with regard to the fact that the race sponsers boat ws exonerated have a look at the dodgy race organisers section of the forum!!!
