Yeah, I'd second that, concentrate on keeping the boat flat, the sail(s) trimmed and the helm informed. Actually the only time I raise the trapeze adjuster is in marginal trapezing conditions(so I can get on the wire as early as possible), very gusty wind(so I don't get tea bagged when the gust ends) or waves(when there is the danger of slamming a wave and stopping the boat). Oh yeah, also try to keep some weight on the wire to stop the hook coming unclipped and make sure your harness does not have a stupid bit of rubber or springy metal to keep the ring engaged - they're dangerous and slow. I have a QRH because it was thrown in due to the fact that purple marine took 6 weeks to tell me what i ordered was in stock, the rubber bit is seriously annoying, would you reccomend removing that completely or just filing it down as small as poss? Can't really see when i'd use the QRH apart from sh*ts and giggles (debating the merits of pressing the button when wiring on the osprey just see what happens to dad ![]() |

yeh i think id have that problem with a quick release hook, it would be so tempting just to push the big red button.

my trapese hooks are relitivly high. Is this a bad thing im quite new to it but i found it enables me to run across the boat and hook on whilst standing up. Also if there low isnt there a worry of them slipping off when you get on the wing? Im not sure.

i tend to grab hold of the trapese ring and bring it to the hook as i step out the boat as its far easier than tryng to hook on wen your dangling from the handle

Hobbo, take the rubber bit off completely - nothing scarier than feeling unable to unhook. Mark 4 Ospreys are FANTASTIC! You will love it! See you at the Nats, sadly not before as Scotland is too far for a weekend at Mounts Bay and can't do Birkett - have to wait one more year before we are free on the first July weekend. It sounds an amazing race but a bit chaotic on the start line. |

I filed down my plastic retainer clip and it works ok now, i don''t see a problem with it to be honest. And it stops my hook falling off the trap wire if i do pull the release string

I like my hook high too. If I'm sailing in "twinnning conditions" I find I never actually sit down in the boat, I'm either stepping accross, hooking on, or trapezing. |

Horses for courses though... you have to wriggle so low in the cockpit to tack a Contender that you might as well have your hook as low as you can for the righting moment. |
