Wow, there is some chaos going on here! Digging into the various protest/redress requests, it seems that the situation is as follows:

1. 505 team asked for redress in race 3 when the outhaul on their supplied boat broke

2. Redress was given (3.1 points?), which was enough for them to win the series

3. Osprey team then asked for redress against this decision, claiming that there was nothing in the SIs to justify this, and that the broken outhaul did not constitute an improper action or omission by the organising authority.

4. The Osprey argument has been accepted by the Protest Committee, but the 505 team have now escalated this in an appeal to the RYA.

5. The Osprey team also point out that in the race 3 results following the initial redress decision, their race result and those of all other boats below the top 3 were increased by 1 point (not the normal case if address is given to a boat). If this were corrected, Osprey team would move up to second overall, ahead of B14 team by 1 point.

6. So, if the appeal to the RYA is unsuccessful it would seem that Osprey would win, with B14 in second.

7. Further protests were logged against both Osprey and B14 for using gybing strops on their booms, when not supplied with these fitted, and having been advised during the training day that they could not be fitted. These protests were deemed invalid due to the timing of submission, but if they had been valid it's hard to see how the boats would not have been significantly penalised.

Hard to see any outcome from this that will be satisfactory, good luck to the RYA appeals panel...
