I've been using carbon extensions for years and inevitably they leave marks in the gel coat on the deck

I always used to just wet and dry them out with my older boat as I wasn't that bothered but with my newish boat I'm reluctant too

I cant progrip the entire deck or it will stop me being able to move
I dont want to add foam or tape to the extension as I like the feel and balance of it currently

Im out of ideas.

Sorry I cannot be exact in naming the material but I have friends who use a plastic film for protection to excellent effect. Being an old person I shall call it by a name from my era, Fablon, cheap and from DIY stores in a choice of textures and colours I believe. Such as you could use to stick on a plain glass window for privacy.

Is a wrap of (black, of course) insulation tape round the end of the extension really going to change the feel of it? I'd give you 2 tacks to forget it's even there.

I saw a very sexy carbon tiller extn on a Phantom some years ago. It had a textured 'sticky' silicone(?) sleeve that I can only image was inspired by those machines one sees in the gents at a motorway service station! Not sure it would be retrofit-able even if one could find the right material though.
