Phil Bolger used the analogy of imagining a hull moving through a sea of peas. I can’t imagine anything nice happening to the flow until the hulls go parallel. The design of a hydrofoil is not complex. Get it as light as possible so the foils have less work to do and can be smaller, secondly have a low drag hull so it goes fast before your use the foils to lift and again smaller. I don’t see that this design is light or low drag.

The whole logic of merging the two hulls into a mono bow, was to do away with the lee hull trip and pitch which it did, I ran out of cash, well the tax man ran out of cash, before i could get foils on it, but I could see it evolving into something like that SYRA thing.. I don't think I've ever secreted my name, but the idea was to save folk who work for a living gettng caught out.

Unconvinced by this hull shape, can't really see what a single bow adds.
As for names, mine appears on sailing related things everywhere, but I'm not sure how me being called Rupert or RJW66767 makes a difference to someone reading my post? I agree the first post harks back to a boat from a while ago, so may only be obvious to people who were there. A fine opportunity for new people to assess the merits of the V2 for themselves. |

Yes, if the problem is a lack of buoyancy to leeward then reducing the buoyancy is unlikely to help. I raced against a boat with this new hull shape in the early '90s; I think it's been scrapped, which is a significant issue with a 40 footer.
We know for a start that the BS force is strong with this one, since they claim to be the first doublehanded foiler. That ignores the Lugg/Smith (?) 14, the Rs from NZ, and the UK Cherubs. To ignore them either means ignorance or dishonesty. Sorry to be so harsh, but I just don't get the idea behind launching a boat with so much fanfare before it's proven. It seems to be the equivalent of loudly claiming that you are going to win the worlds when you have no real track record in the class in question. Surfers sometimes say "if you can do it, it ain't braggin'" but the other side of that could be "do it before you brag".
