The British Keelboat League was introduced with the aim of increasing participation in keelboat racing across the United Kingdom. This is delivered through the concept of concentrated inter-club team sailing.

The league is open to teams from any club or association affiliated to the RYA. Competitors range from inland club sailors getting together to try something new to Olympic sailors trying something different and everyone in between.

Each event consists of 25 short (12-15 minute) races. Teams will do around 12 races each, so there is plenty of time to watch how the others do it.

You don't even need to own a boat, they are provided for you, just grab some kit and #rockupandrace.

Here are the dates and venues;

  • 5/6 May - British Keelboat League Qualifier – Ullswater Sailing Club
  • 25/26 May- British Keelboat League Qualifier – Draycote Water Sailing Club
  • 8/9 June - British Keelboat League Qualifier - Royal Corinthian Yacht Club
  • 15/16 June - British Keelboat League Qualifier - Royal Lymington Yacht Club
  • 22/23 June - British Keelboat League Youth Qualifier – Royal Southern Yacht Club
  • 20/21 July - British Keelboat League Qualifier - Royal Western Yacht Club
  • 7/8 September - British Keelboat League Qualifier – Royal Northern And Clydes
  • 27/29 September - British Keelboat League Final - Royal Thames Yacht Club

Any ideas on ideal weight Lynn? Looks as though it would be lighter than the J70, which this series is the qualifier for the Sailing Champions League.
