I did have a giggle we ran a 'cock and ball' ad for a mountain bike company once which it reminded me of, the ATB co were doing it for the ironic value, I fear dinghy companies don't do humour.

I did seriously look at buying it, wanted it in fact but I'm not going to be taken for a complete fool at those prices, 57 quid for a turned ally shaft and not even for a pair? The whole set up, a harness and the cock&ball bit wouldn't have given me any change from 300 quid, they're having a bubble bath..

It's a lot of money, and then you'll probably still need two harnesses if you want to sail on another boat.

I'm also a little sceptical how well the ball locates and pops out. In the video of it being used the sailors go out on a the handle then locate the ball with a second hand... With the hook and hoop you can hook in by just moving your hips, which keeps the second hand free to sheet or steer.

Telling that we don't see the system being used at a top level (470s, 49ers, Aussie Skiffs)

Hi iGRF,

Funnily enough, our photographer did mention the slightly raunchy look of the system...

Just to let you know that the Keyball handles (A4043) are in fact sold as a pair, the RRP for the pair is £57.00 Ex Vat.

Standard trapeze rings (not sold as a pair) RRP at £23.86 Ex Vat so the price isn't massively different.

If you are still interested in the system but would like to know more info then please feel free to email us at Sales@allenbrothers.co.uk

Best Regards

Allen Sales Team

If the elastic went to the top of the keyball handle, rather than toward the bottom it would mean the ball would always dangle down (ooh er) making it possible to hook on without a second hand.
As it is, with the elastic fixing near the bottom and adjuster rope at the top, the system pulls in-line when you go out on a handle. This makes it harder (impossible) to locate the keyball in to the harness without using a second hand.

On a traditional hoop the elastic fixes within a cm of the bottom of the adjuster rope so the hoop always hangs down, making hooking on much easier and often you don't need a second hand to do it.

The bonus thing about the system for those of us who can't seem to buy boats where the mast stays sticky uppy or the rudder comes offy and other similar dramas which involve swims then in over the side and scratching the pro grip or whatever else.
Without looking at it I'd prabably mount the cock & ball bit on the end of a kite float and the elastic to that so the cockball can flick in..
