ok,so its a tedious subject, but is anyone familiar with the new Data Protection regs. that come into force next year. The info online is inconclusive as to whether small clubs have a case for exemption, (our club is also a registered charity). Any information gratefully received.

If you're an RYA affiliated club try the RYA legal dept. They tend to be very good at this sort of thing.

This legislation has been in place for some time but as of next year the penalties will start to be inforced. I would say most sailing clubs should be ok, but the RYA legal team will certainly be able to provide sound advice.

I believe that GDPR imposes stronger requirements on organisations, in addition to - of course - bigger penalties for transgression than the previous Data Protection legislation. A public body I'm involved with is looking at the implications & if I find out anything useful and relevant I'll pass it on.
