Not that it effects me but am I reading correctly that the Oppy British nationals were the same week as the Europeans?

Happens more often than you think. Only selected boats can attend the Euros and Worlds, so only 5 boats miss the Nationals. Also for the last few years the Nationals has not been a squad selection event, so those missing it can still make winter squads.

Common place with large classes as there aren't enough weeks in summer!

clashes are inevitable,   there's  around 30 countries  that might be considered 'European'  in terms of  classification ... 

add in qualification  processes  etc  for the  euros / worlds in the larger classes ...  havign your nationals the same week as  euros or wourlds  isn;t quite  as  much of a  saga as it might seem ...
