All,

Is there any one out there that can give me any advice on replacing a small square of wood on the deck of my Albacore.

The section is about 8cm by 10cm and has the boom or something dropped on it at some point before I bought it.  My main question is once I have got the piece of wood out how do I secure the new piece in???

We had a similar problem on our part wooden cherub.

We made a frame on the underneath of the deck which would suppport the new piece and then placed the top piece with lots of reson back on and sealed it then painted it, v good :D.

Make sure you spread the load over a much wider area though.

Or, for a lighter weight repair, cut out the damage, bevel the edges to a steep (shallow? lots of glueing surface) angle, cut a piece to match, and drop it in. Main problem is cutting the piece to match, as it is very difficult to get the bevel the same. Other problem (for either method) is that the deck is curved, and the piece you want to put in, isn't. If you do a search on google or the like, I'm sure you'll come up with pics. Or try the Cherub website, as their articles are excellent.
