Just bought my daughters a cheap GRP oppie to learn on, but want to tidy it up. The rails are blue as are the bulkheads and centreboard came, but the rails are very chipped and crazed.
Think i have two options, fill and sand and either paint or stick progrip over the entire rails/gunwales. What do people reckon? If I paint what is the toughest? Any other ideas? Cheers

I'd say any reasonable marine gloss would suffice for the hull - what will chip normal paint would chip 2 pot as well, if you have to rub it down once a year and put a fresh coat on its not that bad, plus its cheaper so if she loves it she'll want an upgrade soon ;)
I wouldn't suggest pro-grip though, you want to be able to move or slide you bum in and out over the rail and progrip would just hold you too firmly and cause your wetsuit/ drysuit to move about - Progrip is fine where you put your feet though |

What about Vinyl wrap (sticky back plastic) along the gunwales.
You can get carbon fibre effect stuff on Ebay, might look more cool than paint. |
