..... then it was probably the best race I ever sailed hell I was fit back then...

"The older I get the better I was.... "  Classic .... and yes we are all a bit prone to it  LOL

Paignton is a great location and popular with many classes.  The sailing is very good but as important imo is the fact you are in the middle of the town with easy launching and many good lo-cost B&Bs on the doorstep.  No driving required once there and pints still under £ 2  in many places !  Heck we've even been seen drinking with the Phantom sailors ....

Best tip for Paignton?  Don't take too much advantage of the lo-cost beer .... and on the water keep mostly up the centre of the beats unless you have a massive lead ... or you are down the tubes already and are prepared to risk even more to make up a large defecit.

One from Last year, make sure you know the course, a certain Phantom sailor was so excited by leading he didnt see the next mark of a trapezoid and went low direct to the leward mark. No Names but his brothers sails a Zero!
Did me a load of good as I had missed a starboard boat and swam taking avoiding action and ended up first or second.

Weather looks pretty good and accomodation booked for £28!
See you all at POSH on Saturday morning or in the bar after racing - heard a whisper of beer costing only £2.50!

Beer at £2.50 a pint.

That's the standard price at Thornbury SC, sometimes we drop to £2 if we buy in a polypin or 4 for special events.

And incidentally (shameless plug), we have our Regatta on 11-12th June.

Great weekend in the end - dodgy Saturday with the wind switching on/off. All forgotten about by a great sunday in a nice F2-3 big waves and 4 races fitted in.
Thanks to the Race Officer and his team
Thanks to the Sailing club for hosting

note for rest of season - eat more pies to hold off Simon Hawkes upwind!

Hi Pompey
How did Simon manage to win both the Done and Phantom. Is he suffering a split personality or has he cloned himself.

Wind was rubbish all weekend, so much for great forecast!  Paignton did the best they could with the conditions.  Good event
