We had pretty much equal numbers in each fleet 7 in one 8 in the other last time, the most boats we have of the same type are the Mackerel Fishing fleet (˝ doz Lasers) then there's me and a Phantom who should be in the fast fleet but then we wouldn't have our mano y mano contest, next we have three or four Contenders, then an MR, an L4k, a Hornet, an RS100 10.2, 470, RS500 at weekends we get an additional 500 and Blaze, a National 12 or the Icon or a couple of Tasars or a V3k or Washerwoman14 depending on the wind conditions. A very eclectic mix showing true modern diversity... Wink

Upwind you have to work very hard and they don't necessarily have to work as hard, offwind on a tight reach you are marginally faster, on a broad reach is pretty much even steven and on a dead run if they can run by the lee they'll have you. So a really aggressively sailed laser I've yet to beat, but normal humans that make mistakes can be, simply because it's an easier boat to sail I think and it gets going off the line a bit quicker, at least that's how I've managed it so far, and good starts are everything in close racing.
Thanks. Yes I think the handicap is fair, it's just a case of me getting used to the boat and generally improving my technique! I'm sure i'll get there. The fleet is fairly mixed; Lasers, Fevas, a Phantom, Miracles, Comets etc.
