Why not use a 19 wire strand for the whole length then?
The section of rope around the eyes/terminations is one of the weak spots of a wire rope, as generally this is the tightest radius that the rope has to bend.  The other weak points are the immediate section of rope entering & exiting the talurits / compression fittings.
I don't think reducing the cross sectional area of the rope around these areas is advisable.
