Polyester filler will fall out at no faster rate than epoxy filler on a job like this. (ie, when you next plough into the bottom) It even comes in white, and from B&Q.

Still not as good as epoxy putty ! , tis the dogs do dahs and does a lot more , even moulded a wing nut thing (by hand) for outboard motor cap  useable in minutes , epoxy putty can be bought on ebay , even in pound shops for pennies , doesnt fall out when you hit things and use only limited by your imagination .
FAR FAR quicker and easy to use than polyester filler , unless there is a quick set polyester putty Ive not heard of .
you can pay more for it if you like in chandelrys or b and Q .

fills holes underwater too !

I do like the fact that it can be used under water. Some are better than others, though, aren't they? - are the £ shop ones really any good? - I've not tried.

Polyester filler goes off in 15 mins, so not too slow.

yup for this purpose cheap just as good , by experience . beauty of it is because of it being a putty you can mould , coerce into desired shape without  tape moulds etc , doesnt droop whilst setting  etc

I used this stuff intended for surfboards to do mine. Can't remember what it was called, I'll try and find out. It's basically this epoxy type stuff, comes as a green cylinder with a white streak down the middle (like a stick of rock). You slice a bit off, roll the two colours together and then jam it into the damaged area. Hardens and then you just wetsand it down. Really good stuff, I had no issues with it. There's no point in doing a complicated, length repair for something like this because you're likely to do it again. Unless it's your best set of foils that only comes out for the nationals, you're better off with something quick and easy that's going to get you out sailing quickly! :)
