Hi guys,

So we've been told we are too heavy for a 29er. So we are possibly looking for a new dinghy. It needs to be a 2 man twin trapeze skiff?

Ideas?

Thanks

Good weight for a Cherub, the current national champs sail at QM and the inland champs are there on the 26th-27th so a good chance to arrange a ride, if you are planning on growing significantly more look at 49ers or find another mate and get an 18

Have you considered i14? Most champs have been won by crews at 155 but some as heavy as 175. Plenty competitive crews at 145 and below. Plenty of good used boats around at very good prices.
Boats seem to last forever, most of the fleet are a good laugh.
Let me know if there is anything I can do.

RS800? I'm biased but it offers equal racing largely regardelss of weight.

Sailed an 800 in Minorca and although it was good fun... it seemed like it would get too easy too quickly :(

RS800 is not too hard to sail from F2 to F4.
Outside those parameters, it gets more demanding.
In light air I'd rather be in a 400.
When it's windy it is not a trivial boat.
I'd suggest considering one if there are any to sail against at your club.
There are some fairly good people sailing them, and it's more of a level playing field than i14's, although the cheap secondhand boats will probably not have the new mainsail.
Alternatively, the B14 has its attractions.

14 results fairly independent of design at major champs domestically and abroad.
Reigning European champ boat on the market for £6500 - you wouldn't get a championship winning 800 for that.
When you discover beer curry and girls you won't be outside the corrector range for the 800.
