Hi,
Does anyone have a Laser Bahia racing at their club that could give us an idea of what to use as a PN.

I asked RYA last year, they said 1095, tho they said it was on very limited data.

Been racing my Bahia at my local pond since beginning of last year.

I was immediately mocked for my choice of a 'plastic fantastic' for racing and my initial results merely confirmed their lack of enthusiasm.

As the year progressed and I started performing better, there appeared much grumbling by some of the stalwarts as to my given PY of 1095. I did a lot of research on the net and managed to find about 20 clubs who posted results and with an active Bahia handicap racing participation.

The vast majority were using 1095 with a couple using lower and a couple using higher.

Lowest I found was 1079 and the highest 1169.

The club has finally settled on 1095. They offer a 3% addition if I dont use the genni.. but I declined the offer as a few of the older guys were still grumbling about my PY anyway.

Don't take it personally. Grumbling is what you get when the PN is set locally rather than by God (the RYA).  And it's no use making concessions - the grumbling won't stop until you beat nobody but the uninterested.

Offer to swap boats with someone for a couple of races - they will soon see that the Bahaiaiaiaia isn't exactly a rocket ship, and more a fast cruiser racer.
