Try again with a 10 minute view. Real smooth...

That's alright if it's to facilitate steering!
Maybe a minute long turn to port... I see this as very honest - you could have changed the sample rate and the aliasing would have smoothed it out a treat!

Possibly not so bad if it was gusty.  The thing is, until there is a stock of data, we have no idea what 'good' 'average' and 'bad' look like under any circumstances.  It will be interesting to see if you can develop a feel for what the graph will turn out like while you are sailing.

On the bright side, there is a good distribution either side of upright.  It would in fact be interesting to see the (rolling-) average heel angle if that could be generated automatically, which I guess it can.

I did think about filtering it and showing a nicer sample , but hey, it's all a learning process and I'd only be cheating myself (as my mum would say). The wind was great - fully powered gusting to slightly overpowered, with not much by way of waves (Chew is a lake after all!), so I think a decent profile would look a lot smoother than that.

You can do just about anything post-processing the data, moving point averages etc. The sample rate was very high (256Hz) and could be set to a less sensitive rate, but I wanted to be able to look at individual tacks and memory isn't a problem.
