Whilst there are many potentially irritating things about the multiple "news" stories from the Chipping Norton Yacht Club, the one that really annoys is the claim that they are more than 100 miles from the sea. I'm sure I've heard somewhere that you can't be more than about 70 miles from the coast...

Rant over.

There's also innumerable sailing clubs in that area; maybe "Chipping Norton Yacht Club" is an elaborate cover for a swingers club?

All looks rather posher than Purton Yacht Club, where I live, which meets once a month in the pub. At least most people who go there have an interest in the sea, and some have a yacht on the coast.

Interesting that the caption mentions 2 of the people coming from Witney and Banbury, both of which have very nice sailing clubs within spitting distance.

OK, according to the AA, it is 72 miles by road to Portishead from there, though whether you'd want to go yotting from there is a matter of debate!

Apparently the OS reckon  that the furthest point from the sea is somewhere in Derbyshire.

But for this shower they might be unable to conceive of a coast other than the South.

I always thought the place furthest from the coast was Whatstandwell, 33 miles north of the place Al mentions, and famous for being the home of that well known landlubber Ellen Macarthur.
the same, but different...

Depends on how you measure it.  High/Low tide mark, include/exclude tidal rivers etc.

Proper tidal access to the Bristol Channel can be obtained at Sharpness. No need to go as far as Portishead, so down to less than 50 miles!

I am sure there are plenty of people who live in Chipping Norton who think Jeremy Clarkson is a 'member'....
