Getting rid of that 5-ringed cancer would be the very best thing ever for sailing. At a stroke it would get rid of all the prima-donnas and social spongers and return the sport to its roots.

Mind you I don't reckon it will be too long before the "disabled" sprinters using blades will be able to beat the "able bodied" sprinters without - as indeed the wheelchair marathon runners can already thrash the runners...

So pleased that the Streaker Nationals was won by a WOOD boat last year!

To answer tick, I do like progressive design, things should become easier, faster or more accessible to those who want them, without necessarily having to devote their every waking moment to learning how to control them.
If those kids had been trying to modify their 420 because it wasn't exactly a class event, so what, it's the human condition to want to improve our lot and young minds do that. Does no one see the irony of on the one hand cracking on about the unfairness of out of class stuff with denials and counterclaims then talk of tens of thousands pounds of computer generated and high modulous chicanery going into another Olympic class?
It's bullsh*t is what it is, either a class is One Design which generally menas they are all made the same and you really can't change anything or it is something else, restricted development we used to call it and therefore 'Open' it can't be both and be fair to all.

All the modern boats are built this way in the class.
