was that the Gul ones? I'd looked at those and thought "blimey, they'll disintegrate rather easily". it isn't just about grip and warmth- sailing gloves need robust plams, especially if you've re roped with racing cheeswire to save weight

They were new and slippy, combination of a new main sheet rope, new gloves, new sheeting style, nothing felt right so binned the gloves immediately as you do..

It was 7 degrees so perfectly doable without gloves I was just being a girl and they looked shiny sexy, not so shiny sexy now swilling around in the bilges..

Well it went a bit drifty at times, when I first showed up you couldn't see the other side of the lake it was that misty, then the mist cleared but the bloody wind dropped, it was borderline cold, enough to lose my hands fiddling with attaching my new boom arrangement, but not so cold I had any problem once in the thick of Miracle bashing.

there was a gentle breeze in the trees at home, and judging from ex-laser's facebook status, enough to get around a little further up the road.  But across at Draycote there was nothing, a real drifter when I showed.  Maybe it filled in for the second race, but frankly it was never going to amount to much, whereas the traded in brownie points have bought me a night at the snowdome tonight to test out a new stick.

it helps having a boat that is perfectly designed for sailing in very light winds. the other side of the coin is that they are slow when its windy.

if i only had the lightning i think i would have stayed on shore as well. Smile

The O'Neills have done a bloody Mary and several races at Bough Beech and are showing no sign of wear and the wearer has rated them as 'well good' for comfort, warmth and dexterity.
I did mange to convince him to try the Argons today and the verdict was very good grip, good comfort, but a 'well rubbish' score for warmth as they quickly became soaked through and cold.
The Sealskinz are getting good reviews from STMBO, next task is to get them to swap for a race.
Rooster socks also getting thumbs up so far.

Well the Guls finished an hour race today, that's a first in thirty years, I still 'lost' my hands, it was quite chilly today and it was only after a bit of a swim that they came back, but at least they're doable now the newness has worn off the gloves and the mainsheet.

Summers here now so it's all harness & sunnies from now on,,yup.
Wot we discovered this winter, best first:

O'Neills
Brilliant, warm enough for most winter days, very durable, excellent grip & good dexterity.
Palms still look new after full winters Topper squad & Bough Beech winter series.

Sealskinz Ultra grip (in fetching yellow)
Warmest of the 3 but not rope durable, expensive. Used with summer gloves on top.

I ended up with the rubbish ones of course, but ditched the Argons in favour of 2 pairs Portwest:
1 pair sizeM with a pair of de-fingered sizeL pulled over the top, worked for me.
