Can you give me your recommendations on dinghy boots please?  My first and only pair so far have been Rooster boots and whilst they're very comfy the soles are made from soft cheese and the grip is sh*t.  Probably not a problem in a laser where you don't have far to move from one side to the other but I find I'm always loosing my footing in my Blaze because of these boots.  

I've had them since last august and have used them on average probably less than once a week and the soles have been shagged for a couple of months.  I certainly won't be buying another pair that's for certain.  The next pair need to have much sturdier soles with good grip that won't wear out so quickly.

+1 for the lace up versions of the Aigle - Maramu (?) but replace the lace with elastic and they will last longer.

Another +1 for Maramu 
I used to wear them when they were red "Musto Boots", so I guess I fall into the "old timer" category that Rogue's blog review references!

My crew recently bought a pair and was told that they were stopping making them soon.
- form an orderly queue once you have panic bought your petrol, stamps and pasties   Smile

Yes, don't buy any of the tripe you get offered by dinghiest stores, instead get split toe surf/windsurf wetsuit brands, they give better dexterity even in a boat, (like you can feel if your treading on a rope someone needs to pull, or feel the edge of the boat, or if you need to put your foot into a strap they are much easier than the dead feeling clod hopping dinghy boots give, plus they are easier to get in and out of a boat after a capsize, you can swim in them, do I have to go on?

they have just come back onto the market.

if you are going to be hiking a lot, i would stay away from split toe, thin soled boots.

I'd agree with you on that in a trapeze boat G.R.F feel is everything and I moved from the Aigles to a pair of windsurf boots with a thin grippy sole and nice and flexible for my trap boat.  The only think i don't like about them is walking about a rocky dinghy park when you can feel every chuffin' stone.

The great thing about the aigles is they give you so much more support to your ankle when your hiking - really does make it more comfortable.

I've always found the Typhoon dinghy or 'Regatta' boots very good on gel coat on account of the micro-siped (cut) soles - certainly much better than my crew's Gill trapeze boots with their chunky soles.  About average on a stony beach, comfortwise.

Aigles are nice, but v. pricey last time i looked (I, too, once had them as Musto boots, but then there was little other choice)

Just bought myself another pair of Crewsaver dinghy boots - not as tough on the sole as the Aigles, but thick enough that you don't dread walking in them, and pretty long lasting. Try Pacer marine on Ebay for some good prices (bit of a plug as they got mine to me so quickly this week!).

Why do all dinghy parks seem to have gravel that you feel through anything but a pair of walking boots??
+1 for Aigles and also for Gill that I use with the drysuit.
