Obviously at this point assuming they work properly which we have to assume they must or they wouldn't have entered them to this level of selection.
Select on the criterion what you'd like to see, rather than what you think will get selected.. It'll be interesting to see the difference in the outcome, also the reason you made the choice wouldn't be a total waste of bandwidth would it?

Personally I haven't got enough info to make a sensible evaluation. Haven't even seen most of the boats let alone sailed them.
Lets face it, if there had been a poll in the UK before the Torbole trials the 5 Tonner would probably have come top, and what a Turkey that turned out to be (not that some of us weren't saying so at the time!) |

I'd just like to see it decided on pure speed - isn't that what fast boats are supposed to be about? So winner of the races wins, with no added politics... fat chance!

Jim it's an internet forum, you don't need anymore info than the photos, and no one expects a 'sensible evaluation', where's the fun in that? Failing all other reasonable methods of aesthetic assessment, just pick the one with the 'fittest birds' sailing them.

My choice has been that most important deciding factor - colour with a second aesthetic look of the bow even though the spinnaker chute is behind the forestay a design error if ever there was (I can say that now, boat designer = me).
So the Aura gets it on visual even though I suspect the 900 will be the easier sail which is also important imv.

Really hope the 900 or FX gets it, not sailed the 900 but after chatting to a few people and based the looks/spec its the closest boat to a scaled down 49er. The 49erFX is a wicked boat, would love to have a rig for blasting on windy days! Aura, well last time I sailed it i was not a huge fan but a lot has probably changed since then.

I voted Aura too as its the only one I have seen in the flesh and it is built down the road from me. It looks damn fine on the water and there was a good looking team sailing it the first time out. Also how cool would it be for Peter Hobson to have his first full scale dinghy design chosen for the Olympics....

If it were down to me it would be alternatively:
- 29erxx, because I own it
- rs900, because at first sight it seems to be (huuuuge IMHO) the best boat.
Anyway I'm buying popcorns too.. I'm looking forward for the trials Edited by 17mika - 02 Feb 12 at 3:31pm |

The 900, because it looks irresistibly sexy.
