Especially when you post on a forum with primarily UK based participation and lay down a bit of teasing gauntlet ;-) But whatever, if it makes the guys who buy it happy, who cares? |

Mast looks similar, and if its commercially available......
As for the sail - its got a high clew, and is done in contender Maxx which is specifically designed to work with crosscut designs. Pretty sure Finn bronze medal in the games was won by a crosscut maxx design. Crosscut will give a smoother broadseam shape, as long as the cloth can take the loads in a variety of directions. Looks to me to be a bit less beamy and stable than the D1 - more towards the twitchier / more demanding / rewarding 300. I guess its tough to try a s/h hiker with kite and not be compared to 100/D1. Does look quite similar to 100 / 300 mind. Not sure about the green, but good luck to 'em! |

Other than the plan shape, I wouldn't have said those sails shared that much in common, one (D1) is a radial and vertical cut and quite technical, whereas the other looks like a fairly un complicated flat panel broad seam.
As to the boat I'm getting board with that sort of shape now, they all look the same. |

whilst I can't see the point in it commercially (in the UK at least) it strikes me it's a bit of a one-off, but if others want one then there's a fag packet to write a quote on somewhere. There are worse reasons than to design something than just for the hell of it.... As for the 50-70kg range, both the D1 and RS100 retail rigs aimed at that market space. God knows why anyone wanting a moderate to high performance boat would want to compromise with a great big, volumous hull for such a sail plan... not unless it's simply a case of giving ''er indoors a go when it's light enough for her to handle it'... I get the impression such a patronising approaches to toy ownership might well get some of us into trouble ![]() The overriding problem for designing a boat specifically for women and smaller adult frames is to ensure it doesn't become a 'yoof boat'. I've heard of people put off the Laser circuit because of the overly-yoof element, and the 29er, awesome boat, but no pair of lightwight adults could seriously want the social side that comes with that over say a 200, or a N12. Secondly, if that travesty in Santander has anything to go by, where Ovington, RS and Hartleys all fielded proper designs around female geometry, specifically for elite female athletes, it appears some women are quite happy to accept the patronising 'girly rig' approach anyway.... so what do I know about it all

![]() I am almost 100% sure the mast is a D-one mast and the sail looks exactly the same.
The hull looks like the love child of the 100 and 300! Not a bad looking boat, is this going to be a commercial project? if so i think you may want to develop your own rig rather then jumping on the back of the £000's others have spent on development.

It does look from various different angles to be mixture of RS100, RS300 and D1. I can't see the point of it.
Another hiking assy with the 80kg to 100kg weight band in mind. Why not design something for 50 to 70kg weight band.

In fact so is the boom and the sail looks like a similar cut to the d1 ?
Have you just copied the rig ? Or taken some of the d1 parts and had a copy sail made? |
