The RYA's produced a list of the clubs that submit returns, available here Does anyone know how many "Dinghy Racing" clubs there are affiliated to the RYA? |

1200 is the number that is in my mind (but Im not sure where that came from).
The RYA site says 1500 clubs and associations in total: A significant proportion of this country’s sailors and motor boaters regularly access their sport through our 1500 clubs and associations. As very few inland clubs will not have dinghies, and a good proportion of sea clubs will have them, so 1200 dinghy clubs probably isnt far off the mark. Im guessing the majorty of these clubs offer dinghy racing of some sort. 97 returns out of 1200 isn't many, is it! |

And crucially, how many of these clubs locally adjust. I know Lancing does.....well done to them

There used to be a Topper ad that claimed there were Toppers in 1200 clubs. And there must be Toppers in most clubs...
Is that list accurate? No Hayling Island, Grafham, Stokes Bay, Rutland, Highcliffe, Burghfield, Lee-on-Solent, Bristol Cornthian, Draycote, Datchet etc? |

Disappointed not to see my club in there...but given the (lack) of leadership on the sailing committee last year it is hardly surprising.
This year I will will be speaking to the new chap to has taken over to make sure he knows what is required. |

My club is up there and uses "locally adjusted" numbers. Not too convinced about the numbers they use to say the least.

Around 2000 I went to an RYA presentation where they said they sent out around 800 requests for returns and got around 200 back.
