Went today. Generally very disappointed (unless you wanted to buy a hot tub, posh gazebo, garden furniture, or or general clutter/junk.

Only thing worth having a good gander at was a C class cat hidden away in the far corner of the hall with all the boats in.  If you go, don't miss it.

Lots of shiny motorboats with bored salespeople (obviously waiting for the bankers (spelt with a w) to turn-up with their bonuses burning holes in their pockets).

No cheap chandlery or clothing (so don't bother going for that).  I was after a pair of Ocean salopettes but the cheapest I could find were at the "bargain" price of £280! Shocked

Anyone got a pair of HPX trousers that they want to sell?

I was there today too and I didn't think it was fantastic. Picked up a half price rooster rash vest, cheap pair of musto gloves and my mate got a spray top with 20% knocked off, but the rest of the stuff was insanely expensive. I went mainly because I hoped I could get some cheap salopettes, but they were all full price (thank God my dad knows a guy who's sponsored by Gill - 50% discount :D)!

The London Boat Show is not for sailors, it is purely for "yuppies" who want a gin palace.... (And I am sorry but if you think otherwise, you are misguided!)

Want to talk to sailors, get sailing kit, see new developments??  It has to be a trip to Ally Pally in March then...

That's rather more than a little unfair.

I wouldn't recommend a trip to Ally Pally for interested in anything of a size that's kept on a mooring or in a Marina. Whilst that may not be what I choose to do there are huge numbers of people who sail in boats other than dinghies, and Earls Court is far more useful to them than AP.

Quite right Jim.

As it happens I didn't go with my "dinghy" hat on.  I went with my "big boat" hat on, and had a list of things to find, people to talk to, and questions that I wanted answering.  I assumed that I was going to be there for the best part of a day, but left after just 2 hours.  I would have been very annoyed if I'd paid full price for the tickets.

Hi Folks,

Perhaps I'm just easily pleased but I really enjoyed my trip to the show. The classic boat area was fascinating and inspirational. Some of the activities in the pool were entertaining - the canoe polo was like a sort-of 'Aqua-rollerball' but with more violence! I know what you mean about some of the stranger items for sale (kitchen knives, drill sets and even shopping trolleys) however amongst them was a stand selling vintage Lambretta Scooters.....an odd choice but I liked 'em. Odd to have a boat show with no sign of any Laser products.....I know they've been displayed as part of Purple Marine's stand at recent shows but Purple weren't their either - probably a reflection of the current financial climate (although Topper, RS and Hartley were represented)

Cheers,

Nigel

the only reason to go is if you work for Sunseeker and you've lined up Jeremy and Hubert from ******** Investment Banking  for a nice 80ft each..... either that or flogging 'innovative' marina trolleys and fold-up bikes to bored people who expected to see actual bargains and are desperate to be able to stagger through the many & various tube stations required to get to/from the show with some kind of un-wieldy rubbish that they simply 'couldn't live with out daaling'

Surely it's best to go this weekend, three shows for the price of one?

Boat, Bike, Outdoor?

It sounded like a good idea to me.
