Hi.
My pro-grip on my boat is starting to look tacky and i have bought some replacement pro-grip, but it has no adhesive side. would No more nails adhesive work well or should I use evostick for securing the Pro grip? and also how would you take the old stuff off in 1 piece so I can use some if the pieces which are still intact? thanks Tim

Evostik would be your best option. But buy the spray can version http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9254422&fh_location=//catalog01/en_GB/categories%3C{9372013}/categories%3C{9372031}/categories%3C{9372100}/specificationsProductType=adhesives&ecamp=cse_go&CAWELAID=266887314
It will save you all the time and hassle of pasting it on twice. Just mask up the area of the boat and pro grip and then spray away!

thanks. my boat has a rough pattern on the deck, probably designed for grip but it doesn't help at all, would the spray work with the pattern on the deck?
thanks tim

Yeah it should do as long as you do a thickish coating so theres maximum contact between the 2 glued bits of evostik.

The stuff I was recommended, and has worked fairly well is Alpha Thixofix, e.g. here: I don't think you can get a spray |

I have used thixofix, but also found wickes contact adhesive to be pretty good.

thanks for all the suggestions on glue but do you know how to take off the old stuff without it ripping so there is less work on preparing the deck?

If you take off the old stuff without tearing it then the glue will either be on the old pro grip, meaning it's uselss, or it will be one the deck, so you'll end up having to scrape it off. It's a n win situation. I think Gil Woolley posted a solution in the yahoo forum which so it might be worth looking there, or sending him a message.

Heat gun! Warm the progrip up and peel it off slowly .. it'll be stretchy but should melt some of the glue off with it.

I agree with Villan when we did the 5oh we heated it slightly and it came off fairly easily. Once you have applied it it might be worth running some kind of sealent around the edges to keep it from lifting when move around the boat
