Eh? They are completely different boats. K1 is a single-hander. K6 likes 26-30 stone hiking and are sailed 2-3 up.

I was sufficiently convinced after a test sail to put down
a deposit. I expect the main market will be for the
"silver" sailor who has had enough of righting and climbing
back into dinghies, but having said that it is a most
pleasant sail and likely to be comfortably quicker than a
Laser. The team at Vandercraft have been keen to take the
prototype around the country and encouraged criticism from
a range of sailors in order to avoid putting it on the
market with flaws.

To be fair you cant really compare the two boats

As soon as you restrict your self to just the one crew
member things change and building the ultimate performance
boat was never the intention.

I did get a sail in one of the prototypes and have to say
it was very pleasing to sail. Not my normal cup of tea but
good fun all the same.

That surely would defy its raison d'ętre, if you wanted
balls out performance you would buy a skiff and be done
with it, the K1 was, presumably, designed to give you
'good' performance but without the inherent risks normally
associated with it.

Quite dinghy-like upwind, but it doesn't matter so much if it heels and it is rather pendulous - you hike it upright then it keeps coming over on top of you because of the boat's high lateral moment of inertia! You would quickly adapt to that however, i'm sure.

Felt very quick downwind in light airs thanks, I guess, to the low wetted area/long waterline. I could imagine that it might be quicker to tack downwind than to square run even tho' there's no kite. At 45 degrees off the run, the apparent wind was on the beam, at any rate.

A very interesting new experience, to say the least, and a new challenge for those 'who've done it all'...

Seems to me it might be a blast to race-what do you think?
