    Posted: 21 Dec 09 at 6:41pm

I wish to get this new thread going with a declaration that I have a commercial interest and that my aim here is to provide information and news on the D-One.  Details on the Devoti D-One can be found at http://www.devoti-one.com and http://www.devoti-one.co.uk

After taking some time out from the Y&Y forum, I have decided to start ‘The Real D-One Thread’.   I have had bundles of requests to start posting again but rather than pick up where I left off, I have decided to start with a new sheet of paper. We are pleased to know that Mark Jardine is going to keep a watchful eye on this thread and if anyone gets abusive or goes off topic, their posting will be dealt with accordingly.  Of course we don’t want to curtail free speech but it would be nice to have a civilised and intelligent dialogue running here.  We realise that some over enthusiastic D-One owners and supporters may have got a few backs up in the past, we expect that Mark will treat all aggressive postings, whether pro or anti, in a similar manner!  The reasons for me not posting for a few weeks are well known to regular followers of the D-One on this forum, so I am not going there again.  A number of people who have contacted me have said that, categorically, they will not be posting on the Yachts & Yachting forum again but I hope that, in the interests of sailing, they will re-consider that decision.

So what’s this thread about?

-                       D-One discussion including questions and answers about the class

-                       D-One news and information updates

-                       Links to D-One sites, videos etc

-                       Blogs associated with the D-One

-                       Regatta and demo days calendar and reports

Thank you for taking the time out to read this.  I welcome you to ask or comment on the D-One!

More soon!

With "Commercial Interest" there comes advertising, and with advertising there is a cost.

On topic: Welcome back. Can you add to the website a current (even estimated) retail price for the D-One? I've only had a quick flick through the site and may have missed it ...

Welcome back Rodders..

What happened to the single-handed shoot out idea we were going to have at Burghfield along with the Halo guys, Phantoms, RS100? and a few others.. Never saw it really come to fruition...

PS - The singlehanded shoot out is still an option as above - How about something  around the time of the Dinghy Show ?  Might be good to see which ones really can  'do exactly what it says on the can'  ;-)    Does not have to be BSC but I can ask.

Good question

We have refrained from publishing the price on the UK site as the £ has been so volatile.  The Euros price is 10500 Euros including full rig, foils and launching trolley plus VAT, ex covers.

We are currently able to do a special UK price for the above at £ 9200 inc VAT.

Thanks for the welcome!

I would be happy to work with ML and others to organise something along these lines.  May be fun to try and arrange something at BSC and a couple of other venues with a possibility of some bumby stuff somewhere  making it a series.

Does anyone know a brewery for sponsorship?

Hi Mike,  Thanks for that and I won't

I just posted some further thoughts on the 'shoot out' and we should get a plan together soon.  Will be fun!

Ouch, the 'special price' for the RS100 is £6950 inc VAT.
