NACRA NATIONALS

On the 7th and 8th November Nacra UK held its first Nacra Nationals
incorparating Nacra 20 nationals, after a week of a mixture of high winds,
rain, and cold weather the weekend was greeted with a surprising slot of
moderate winds, good temperature, ideal for competetive racing. The
event was held at Weston Sailing club alongside the weston cat open.

Total entry for the cat open was 65 boats, ranging from dragoons,
unicorns etc up to much faster f18's tornados and nacra 20's.
There were 20 nacra's of various models racing on handicap.

Saturday brought a great start to the racing with david White on his
Infusion and Adam Piggott also sailing an Infusion dominating the first 2
races.
Amongst the nacra 20's Nick Elmore took the first race from Paul Butler,
he also went on to win the 2nd race with Chris Morris in 2nd place.

Another Nacra that had a good day was the nacra 500 sailed by Duncan
and Cathy Haynes.

After sailing we were greeted with a superb evening meal, consisting of
bangers and mash, at 8 oclock there was a proffesional fireworks display,
then beer and bed.

Sunday dawned with another mild day approx 12 knots of breeze, perfect
for exciting cat sailing. Again the racing was dominated by the Infusions
of Adam Piggott and David White, but there was much place changing in
all races. Two notable performances came from Andrew Gallagher and
crew Cat, and Adrian Allen and son Michael both sailing their new
infusions for the first time, both showed great speed with Adrian Allen
leading most of the last race before being overtaken by Adam Piggott.

In the Nacra 20 fleet again Nick Elmore dominated winning all 3 races to
take the nationals, Graham Barnet sailed a consistent series to finish
second.
