Rawlnuts or snap-toggles?

Anyone tried these?

I'm tempted to use them on the main beam where some self-tapped screws have been ripping out. It's for a spinlock cleat and you cannot rivet the rear hole (the nose of the riveter won't reach in far enough and if you use a stack of M5 nuts as spacers you cannot get a grip on the rivet shank.

But for a M5 fitting you have to drill a 10mm hole which worries me a bit. I'm also tempted by these Snaptoggles

But I'm worried about corrosion from the blind side.

This is for fittings on the main beam of a cat close to the mast-foot. The inside rarely gets soaked but for the same reasons it's difficult to rinse with fresh water. I have always used SS self tappers in the past but they do pull out after a year or two, even when sealed.

I would have some stainless bar drilled and threaded to fit the desired size of stainless bolt you want to use and make up some fittings that work in the same way as the 'snap toggle' you linked to. A bit of a fiddle but more likely to last.
