Does anyone know where I could find any record times for journeys such as Dover-Calais/Round the Island/Plymouth-Portsmouth bydinghy or racing cat please?

Tried the usual search engines, but no joy!

Plymouth to Portsmouth in a dinghy?! That's a fair old treck that! It's bad enough in the car but then again I guess you don't have caravans to contend with on the sea...

I would never go Plymouth to Pompey by dinghy - its bad enough on a yacht!

Round the headlands would be interesting!

Back to the origninal post - no idea.  I'd like to see them, so make sure you post when you do get some details.

Yes but dinghies go faster, so you don't have to suffer for as long .

There's a Javelin that does the Round the Island race every year and beats the big boats.  Now two dutch blokes plan to cross the North Sea in a (Laser)3000!

They reckon they can do it in under 6hrs.  Mad, quite mad, nice idea, but mad.

Friend of mine did Dover-Calais about a month back in his Laser2000, not sure how long it took him though, just know he had to bring the boat back on the ferry!

About 16yrs back, some Dutch or Belgian sailors sailed from Oostende to Minnis Bay (near Margate) in a Prindle (or was it a Nacra?- terrible memory). They navigated by following the ferry, so guess it took them 3-4hrs.

P.S. Would it not be more sensible to do these crossings in the summer?

How did they get the coastguard to approve that?
